ARMY OF DARKNESS WINS SCREAM AWARD
Dynamite Awarded Best Screen to Comic!

OCTOBER 9, 2006, RUNNEMEDE, NJ – The votes are in, the winners have been decided and DYNAMITE’s ARMY OF DARKNESS comic book series has won a SPIKE TV SCREAM AWARD!

The series joined other comic book winners, including Frank Miller who was honored with the Comic-Con Icon Award, and voted Best Comic Book Writer for All-Star Batman & Robin; Sean Phillips who was named Best Comic Book Artist for Marvel Zombies and speaking of Marvel Zombies, the runaway Marvel hit by Kirkman and Phillips was voted Best Comic Book. DYNAMITE’s ARMY OF DARKNESS won its SCREAM for Best Screen-to-Comic Adaptation!

The winners were announced this weekend, while the event itself will be broadcast on Tuesday, October 10, beginning at 10:00 PM EST.

“We’d like to thank all the fans that voted for Army of Darkness and of course our creative team that helped put together this award-winning series, especially the guiding hand of writer James Kuhoric," commented DYNAMITE Publisher Nick Barrucci. “This award also comes at a key moment in time as we prepare to enter the next phase of Ash’s comic book career as he heads into the cross-over of a lifetime.  We would also like to congratulate all of the other winners!"

Ballots were sent out to Spike TV's SCREAM Awards 2006 Advisory Board, made up of respected and well-known members of the horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comic book worlds, and were responsible for advising on categories and determining nominees in each category. All films, television shows and comic books were deemed eligible for inclusion if they were released between June 1, 2005 to July 8, 2006 and were representative of the genres listed. Winners will be determined by viewer voting.

Members of this year's advisory board included: Wes Craven (writer/director A Nightmare on Elm Street); David S. Goyer (screenwriter, Batman Begins); Geoff Johns (comic book writer, Green Lantern); R. Eric Lieb (Comic book writer, Saw: Rebirth); Brian Pulido ("Lady Death"); Judd Winick (executive producer/creator, The Life and Times of Juniper Lee); Jonathan Woods (Storyboard artist, Team America: World Police); and Rob Zombie (writer/director, House of 1,000 Corpses).

With an unexpected patchwork ally and a mysterious cursed girl with an infamous bloodline at his side, Ash must find a way to kill a monster that's already dead but can't be killed. Huh? Just past the double barrel boom stick and chainsaw, baby. We'll see if Count Suck-ula can still brag about his immortal mojo when he's been taken down like an all you can eat buffet dinner at a sumo convention! The ultimate horror showdown concludes as Ash faces off with Dracula in the battle to end all battles!
