FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: ZAREK PROMOTED IN TV GUIDE
Millions To Be Exposed To New BSG Comic Book Mini-Series Event From Dynamite

December 13, 2006, Runnemede, NJ – Dynamite Entertainment announced today that TV Guide is featuring a promotion on the all-new mini-series BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: ZAREK in the December 11th cover dated TV Guide issue. The news of this feature precedes the December release of Battlestar Galactica: Zarek #1, and comes hot on the heels of Dynamite’s announcement that the third issue of their regular ongoing Battlestar series sold out at Diamond Comic Distributors.

About the Zarek mini-series and the promotion in TV Guide, DYNAMITE stated, “To be promoted in TV Guide is an absolute credit to the dedication and talent of the Zarek creative team of writer Brandon Jerwa and artist Adriano Batista. We would like to thank our friends at TV Guide for their promotion of the series, and for working with us to promote the Comic Shop Locator Service (1-888-COMIC BOOK). Though the promotion will hit before the comics are in stores, this should help bring attention to direct market retailers, which benefits the comics industry, and is something we can all keep working towards. We ask that comics fans and retailers once again show their support to TV Guide by picking up and carrying this issue.”

Written by Brandon Jerwa with art by Adriano Batista, Battlestar Galactica: Zarek is an intriguing and exciting recount of Battlestar history. The series focuses on the incredibly influential life of Tom Zarek (played by Richard Hatch on the TV series), the charismatic and philosophical political leader from the Colony of Sagittaron, and reveals content from Zarek’s own novel the Revolution Within. Each issue of the four-part series centers on a different of era of Zarek’s life such as his upbringing alongside a Cylon work force, his deep roots in rebellion and terrorist activity, and his bold transgression into an ideological political activist.

Dynamite states, “With each issue of this intriguing look into Battlestar history, writer Brandon Jerwa will continue to bring to light more radical aspects and events of Tom Zarek’s life. Tom Zarek is an incredibly influential part of the Battlestar Galactica history. The details of his humble childhood after the first Cyclon War and the lead up to his life as a terrorist and political agitator have Battlestar fans craving to know more- and Brandon Jerwa is giving it to them as he brings to light new details of Zarek’s life with every issue in a masterful balance of action, intrigue and mystery. In each issue the interiors by Adriano Batista and additional covers by Stjepan Sejic are every bit as powerful as the historic story. We’re looking at this as more than a mini-series event, this is Galactica history in the making.”

As the only additional source for the all-new adventures of the crew of the Battlestar Galactica, Dynamite Entertainment publishes the ongoing NEW BATTLESTAR GALACTICA series, written by Greg Pak with art by Nigel Raynor. Issue #3 of the regular ongoing series has sold out at the distributor level (Diamond Comic Distributors), and a limited edition variant featuring art by Pat Lee with a variant color on the background is scheduled to fill standing orders.

Dynamite has also recently announced that the next mini-series event from the New Battlestar Galactica comic book line will be BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE CYLON WAR and will feature the combined writing talents of novelists Eric (Halo) Nylund and Joshua ((FREQUENCIES)) Ortega.

About the upcoming Cylon mini-series event and the collaboration of Nylund and Ortega, Dynamite stated, “This mini-series event is set to reveal the historic events of the first Cylon War, as well as the happenings during the 40 year truce that followed. The idea is quite intense, given that these are the proceedings that Battlestar buffs have been speculating about since the initial mini-series on Sci Fi. With that in mind, we knew that we would need a creative team with a futuristic and scientific sense, so it’s easy to imagine our excitement when Joshua and Eric came on board. Coupling the military-esque aspects of Eric’s work with the scientific components of Joshua’s storytelling style guarantees fans will receive a compelling and precise recount of Battlestar history.”

For fans of the original Battlestar Galactica, Dynamite Entertainment publishes the ongoing CLASSIC BATTLESTAR GALACTICA series by writer Rick Remender and artist Carlos Rafael, with painted covers by Dave Dorman. The first pulse-pounding Classic story arc features original crew members Starbuck and Boomer as they are left behind by Galactica and stranded on a planet overrun by Cylons. With the aid of a desperate group of abandoned colonials, the warriors must make a harrowing journey into the heart of a Cylon strong hold in hopes of stealing a ship large enough to carry themselves and the planet’s remaining human population and return to Galactica... if they can find it. From Starbuck’s daring wit and heroism to that menacing red eye of the Cylons, the essence of the original crew and their epic odyssey can be felt on every panel of this series. And the incredible cover art from Dave Dorman guarantees that this series is a nothing less than a “classic” in the making.”

Additionally for the Classic fans, scheduled for February release from Dynamite is the debut issue of the first Battlestar Galactica mini-series event BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: CYLON APOCALYPSE! This exciting all-new BSG adventure is written by the successful writer/producer of “Lost” and “Medium” Javier Grillo-Marxuach with art by Battlestar veteran Carlos Rafael. Battlestar Galactica: Cylon Apocalypse will be available with covers by Carlos Rafael, Jim Starlin, Pat Lee and Michael Golden!

Dynamite stated, “Battlestar buffs have been asking for more Starbuck, Apollo and the original crew for over twenty-five years. Our ongoing Classic BSG series has brought the original crew back to the fans and into the sci-fi mainstream, and now our first spin-off mini-series event is really going to get things fraking started in a big way. Written by none other than the television writer and producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach- if you don’t recognize the name, you most certainly know his work on hit shows like Lost and Medium. The Classic Battlestar era is a great arena for a creative talent like Javier to have some fun and tell an innovative and imaginative adventure. Additionally, fans will be happy to know that Javier’s Cylon Apocalypse is being brought to life by the artistic talents of Carlos Rafael, the man responsible for the interiors of the ongoing Classic BSG series. And to commemorate the debut of Cylon Apocalypse, covers are being rendered by Carlos Rafael, Jim Starlin, Pat Lee and Michael Golden!”
