DEAR DYNAMITE FAN,
Everyone have a good Free Comic Book Day? Good. Everyone pick up Buck Rogers #0? Good! If you haven't, here's a sampling of what the critics are saying:
BUCK ROGERS #0 (ComicsBulletin): "In short, the writing and art on Buck Rogers whets my appetite for more, and just because as advertised this is the end of Buck's adventures, there are enough questions silently posed to serve as the backbone for a series. By the by, I see dozens of loopholes out of the ending. So even should the talent decide to return to this particular era in Buck's life, I'm sure it won't be boring."
BUCK ROGERS #0 (ComicsWaitingRoom): "Writer Scott Beatty and artist Carlos Rafael turn out a Buck Rogers who feels like someone we've never met before, though he seems familiar. This is sort of the makeover that Battlestar Galactica got, but in comic book form. If it can reach that series' level of quality, Dynamite will have struck gold."
BUCK ROGERS #0 (BestShots): "Buck Rogers #0 really is a textbook example of what a title-teaser should be. Great art, solid storytelling, and dangling mysteries that will likely bring you back. And don't forget the giant paramecia. Or the quarter."
BUCK ROGERS #0 (ProjectFanboy): "I certainly think Beatty, Rafael, and Lopez have done a bang up job here. They don't seem to be undoing any of th mythos, simply adding to it and moving on. Whether you're a fan of the comic strip, the serials, the TV show, or any of Bucks many incarnations, this has something for you to get into. And for a quarter? How can you NOT check out #0?"
BUCK ROGERS #0 (MajorSpoilers): "Digging up old properties and dusting them off can be tricky. Too often the property is mired in past continuity thanks to estates and creators, causing the property to fade away, never to be heard from again. Dynamite has had a good record as of late with properties like Zorro, The Lone Ranger, and The Man With No Name, and after reading this first issue, it looks like the company is going to do the same thing with Buck Rogers. If you hadn't planned on picking up this issue, I say grab it now."
BUCK ROGERS #0 (ComicBookResources): "Rafael's pencils match Beatty's story beat for beat and offers a great set of fabulously rendered visuals. His Ganymedians are slimy yet satisfying, and his rendering of Buck's technology is at once futuristic and retro. The art is strong and clean and accentuated by the eye-popping colors of Carlos Lopez."

NATHAN WRITES: "I have reading Zorro since the beginning of this series, and I must confess - month after month, it rates among my favorite books. The storytelling is great and well paced. Cezar's art combined with Salvatore's colors are among the best in the industry. I hope that this team stays together on the book for a long time.
I really enjoyed issue #12. The character development is great. I especially liked Pedro Gonzales self talk at the end of issue. It was grinning because it just seemed so realistic. Bravo!
My only concern with the proposal to Lolita. I laughed out loud, which is relatively unusual for me when I am reading a comic book, at how Diego seemed more interested in the enchiladas than marrying her. Well done. My concern stems from the idea of how quickly Zorro might marry. Keep in mind I know very little about the character, but it seems to be that he would be single longer. However, you are doing such a masterful job that I am enjoying even this rushed engagement.
Are you planning on introducing some new characters who are not a part of the established lore? Will Father Felipe have a larger role in the future?"
Thanks for writing Nate, glad you like the book as much as you do. As for our art team, Cezar is moving on after this arc to an exciting new Dynamite project, but fear not, Francesco Francavilla will be back for our thirds thrilling arc, with Matt still at the helm. As for the developments with the engagement and our supporting cast, keep reading!
DYNAMITE IN THE NEWS:
SHERLOCK HOLMES #1 (BestShots): "...the creative team did a fine job with this one. Holmes makes a great addition to the Dynamite stable, and all parties involved are playing to their strengths. As to whether you should give it a look or not, I have to say that the answer to that is quite elementary: Yes, you should."
The Tankies #1 (BestShots): "Dynamite deserves credit for giving Ennis this kind of platform. The rolling series of three-issue-minis, each featuring different artists, really allows the writer to hit a variety of approaches and tones within the larger notion of wartime fiction. There's not much on the stands that's quite like it, and it earns points for that."
AVENGERS/INVADERS #10 (ComicsBulletin): "The art by Sadowski, Berkenkotter and Mason is superb..."
THE BOYS: DEFINITIVE EDITION VOL 1 (ComicsWaitingRoom.com): "...while I don't do much in the way of "premium" books, this is one that is well worth the money and will always have a place on my shelves. For mature fans of quality comics, I recommend it highly."
Battlestar Galactica: The Final Five # 1 (ProjectFanboy.com): "If you're a sci-fi fan, this is a good story, but I'm betting that if you're a Battlestar Galactica fan, it's a great one!"
The Man With No Name # 9 (ProjectFanboy.com): "This book is ALL good, nothing bad nor ugly about it!"
Zorro # 12 (ProjectFanboy.com): "This book should be on everybody's pull list."
Super Zombies # 2 (ProjectFanboy.com): "Super Zombies takes something from Superhero books and something from zombie books, but it is more than just the sum of its parts."
